Dr Kyriacou acquired a PhD in Economics from New York University (NYU) in 1991. For the most time of his employment at Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), he worked in the Economic Research Department, with exception of two-year secondment to the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C. (11/1994-12/1996). Since 2008 he was appointed head of the Department. In addition to his duties at the Department, he is involved for many years in the political negotiations for the solution of the Cyprus problem, on economic issues related to CBC. In September 2013 he has designated as representative of the CBC to the Monetary Policy Committee of the European System of Central Banks. During the period April 2014-2016 he served as President at the Board of Directors of the Financial Ombudsman of the Republic. He is an author of a number of economic articles and studies, particularly for Cyprus, and he has a teaching experience at New York University, at Cyprus College and at the University of Cyprus. |
