Spring 2016 MFS Conference |
The Multinational Finance Society is inviting cases in all areas of Finance, Banking, Accounting and Economics to be submitted for the newly introduced session "Case Methods".
Types of cases accepted:
- "Decision cases", i.e. situations in which the student is placed in the manager’s position and asked to make recommendations appropriate to the context of the situation,
- "Case studies", i.e. descriptions of real situations. Authors must provide sufficient background information so that the student can evaluate how effectively the situation was managed.
Both types of cases need to be based in real-life events. They may be field-researched cases, or cases based on research from secondary sources. The MFS will not accept fictional or synthesized cases. Cases based on non-U.S. companies and organisations are particularly welcome.
A case submission for the session should include the text of the case, the target audience, the list of learning outcomes, the teaching strategy and the references.
The new "Case Methods" session at the Spring 2016 MFS Conference in Cyprus and at the Annual 2016 MFS Conference in Sweden will serve the following purposes:
- Encourage academics write and present new cases in quantitative subjects which are well grounded in research,
- Provide a forum to discuss with peers the application of the case teaching method in quantitative subjects as well as discuss the publication opportunities for newly written cases,
- Increase recognition from peers and administrators for the case research as research relating to instructional development.
