The Ben Graham Centre for Value Investing at the Ivey Business School is proud to announce the 6th Annual MBA Stock Picking Competition made possible by our key sponsors Burgundy Asset Management and Robotti & Company Advisors, as well as Bristol Gate Capital Partners Inc., Foyston, Gordon & Payne Inc., Stacey Muirhead Capital Management and Peters MacGregor Capital Management.

The MBA Stock Picking Competition is global in nature and includes top MBA programs from Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. The competition focuses on the value investing approach to stock analysis and follows the principles of value investing as taught by Benjamin Graham.

Participants will be competing for $14,000 in cash prizes, as well as admission to the Ben Graham Centre’s 2019 Value Investing Conference, the Fairfax Financial Annual General Meeting and a meet and greet with Prem Watsa, CEO of Fairfax Financial Holdings, and his team. 

Competition Details

Participants: Thirty top global MBA programs. Three groups will be invited to present their final analysis to a panel of top global value investors in Toronto, Canada.

Stocks: A list of stocks will be provided to participating schools on January 15th, 2019. Teams will prepare a maximum 10 page research report (plus necessary exhibits) for submission to the Ben Graham Centre’s Manager no later than January 29th, 2019. Three teams chosen as finalists will be notified on February 15th, 2019 and on March 22th 2019 will be asked to prepare a second analysis on a given stock (with a due day April 5th, 2019) to be presented in Toronto on April 9th, 2019.

Entry Fee: $100 per team (Registration opens October 19th, 2018).
